Giving the Gift of Yourself

Joel Osteen @ Lakewood Church

• The greatest gift is your time, your love, your concern, your attention etc...

• With technology it's easy to cheat people out of the best of me.

• You can't do it for everyone but you can do it for someone and if you keep putting off, then you may miss your opportunity.

James 4:13-17 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money."Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them.

• John Osteen and Sam Story: Sam explained Revelation 3:20 and took John to church where he accepted the Lord. They both became ministers but Sam was never stable and John put Sam on staff.
Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

• Don't forget about the people who helped you get to where you are like David did.
2 Samuel 9:1 David asked, "Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan's sake?"

• If you only had an hour to live who would you call, what would you say and what are you waiting for?

"The peace of God"

Psalms 37:37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;a future awaits those who seek peace.
• Peace is a benefit of having a relationship with God.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
• It will guard your heart and a "guarded" heart is a strong protected heart. And when you don't guard your heart you leave it exposed.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
•Peace is something that you can grow and develop.

Peace is trust in the storm.
