Let Them Eat Cake

In case you didn't know, Jeniro loves Beyoncé and pretty much every song she sings. When Destiny's Child first hit the scene, it made me proud that a quality group stepped out to represent Houston in the entertainment sphere. When the girls set out on their own, I supported them equally as much. As a fan, you must know that I keep up with news about my girls. In today's news, the infamous "eat the cake" line continues to fill up the news feed and so far, I have failed to find one article supporting Beyoncé. So I will add some support right now! Gustave Flaubert once said that there is not truth, there is only perception. So here is what I perceive. For starters, Drunk in Love is a song from Beyoncé's self-titled album, Beyoncé. In case you have lived underneath a rock, check out the song below.

Now as a fan, I have grown accustom to the 2 mixing controversial cultural references into their lyrics. So it didn't shock me when I heard allusions to such icons as Mike Tyson and Ike Turner.I rather enjoyed the lines; English was always my favorite subject. The controversial line that everyone seems to be stuck on is, "I'm Ike Turner, turn up, baby, no, I don't play Now eat the cake, Anna Mae said, "Eat the cake, Anna Mae!" This line alludes to a scene in "What's Love Got to Do with It", a 1993 American biopic film directed by Brian Gibson, loosely based on the life of Tina Turner. Here is the scene.

Jay-Z is the Enabler of Beyoncé's Bad Behavior and Vice Versa

The roadie said "eat the cake Anna Mae'" not her abusive husband, Ike Turner. He asked her to eat  the cake because he didn't want anymore trouble. From the movie, it appears that those around Tina Turner aided in enabling the bad behavior of Ike Turner. Throughout the song we find that Beyoncé is drunk and when Jay-Z enters we find that he has been drinking too since D'USSÉ (VSOP Cognac) is the "best". As a married couple they both know what happens when the other drinks alcohol and they do it willingly, enabling the "bad" behavior of one another. #WhoMad

According to the urban dictionary, "eat the cake" is synonymous to oral sex performed on a woman. Following this logic, Jay-Z would be Anna Mae.

I consider myself conservative but let's not become concerned with decorum or propriety, significantly in excess of normal prevailing community standards. This song sounds like a colorful description of sex between a married couple and I really like this song. This clearly represents a joke and the two are clearly happy.
