The Guardian of Your Soul

• It's easy to watch what's going on in the world and get worried. But we have to remember we are not alone.

For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
I Peter 2:25 NKJV

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
Psalms 91:3 NKJV

• I'm not at the mercy of fate. God has promised to rescue me from every trap.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
Psalms 121:7 NKJV

• The Israelites lived next door but none of the plagues touched them

And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of  flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of the land.
Exodus 8:22 NKJV

• God has put a distinction

A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
Psalms 91:7 NKJV

You who sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow, Say this: " God , you're my refuge. I trust in you and I'm safe!" That's right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them you're perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. You'll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, because God 's your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they'll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
Psalm 91:1‭-‬13 MSG

• You can't touch this.

• See yourself as untouchable to the enemy. Difficulties may come but they don't have to say.

• Quit calling it "my anxiety" "my cancer" etc...it doesn't belong to you.  You don't have to accept anything in your mind, see it as temporary.

that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 5:45 NKJV

• The rain can cause you to blossom.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord , "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."
Psalms 91:1‭-‬2 NKJV

The Lord  is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord  is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will  be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord , That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord , And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.
Psalms 27:1‭-‬5 NKJV

• You can't go around scared and panic.

• David's mentor Saul was trying to kill him.

• God knows how to hide you from the enemy.

And David stayed in strongholds in the wilderness, and remained in the mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.
I Samuel 23:14 NKJV

• Saul was so determined to catch David he went all out.

• God has ways to protect you that you've never thought of.

• Don't panic. Leave from a place of peace and not fear.

• When stress, anxiety, worry, overwhelm, depression and isolation are left unchecked they actually reduce the effectiveness of your immune system and make you, and those around you much more susceptible to getting sick.  When your immune system is challenged you are more likely to contract and spread a circulating virus and expose those around you, your communities, and our global population.

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all  these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.  For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
Matthew 24:6‭-‬7 NKJV

• A ship doesn't sink because of the water around it; it sinks because of the water inside of it.

• You can't watch the news all day and stay in peace. Find something uplifting to watch.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are  noble, whatever things are  just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are  lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there  is any virtue and if there  is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:6‭-‬9 NKJV

• The same God who can make blind eyes see can make seeing eyes blind

So when the  Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord , and said, "Strike this people, I pray, with blindness." And He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. Now Elisha said to them, "This is not the way, nor is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek." But he led them to Samaria. So it was, when they had come to Samaria, that Elisha said, " Lord , open the eyes of these men, that they may see." And the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw; and there they  were, inside Samaria!
II Kings 6:18‭-‬20 NKJV

- Pardachirus marmoratus, also known as the finless sole, the speckled sole or the Red Sea Moses sole, is a small fish from the Red Sea that secretes an ichthyotoxic milky substance from the base of its dorsal and cloacal fins. The substance's shark repellent properties are so powerful that a scientist describing it at a recent meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science said it could bring a shark to an abrupt halt just as it was about to close its mouth over the sole.

• God has put something on me that will keep the enemy from defeating you.

• Don't go around vocalizing your fears, that's bait for the enemy.

In the Middle of a Miracle

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
II Corinthians 2:14 NKJV

• In the middle it can be frightening because all you see are the obstacles but you are being lead to triumph.

• A setback is leading to a set up!

• The economy is not your source God is your source and one touch of

They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
Psalms 37:19 NKJV

Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. The beast of the field will honor Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I give waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen.
Isaiah 43:19‭-‬20 NKJV

• God can take you up when everything seems to be going down. He can refresh me when things seem dry.

• You draw in what you are thinking about. Don't use your energy to worry use your energy to believe.

• When God parted the red sea it was a scary time. Probably loud, new, and scary. At any moment the walls could come crashing down. It felt chaotic.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
Psalms 46:10 NKJV

• God doesn't always bring us out in the most comfortable way.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
Exodus 14:21 NKJV

• In one sense, God sent a storm on top of another storm.

• Paul and Silas were arrested for sharing their faith. They were shackled and imprisoned.

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.  Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.
Acts 16:25‭-‬26 NKJV

• God sent an earthquake to free them! Seemed like things were getting worse until the chains fell off.

Chris was faithful and raised in church but was diagnosed with Lupus. He continued to be faithful

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalms 51:10 NKJV

Is anything too hard for the Lord ? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son."
Genesis 18:14 NKJV

"Say to the righteous that it  shall  be well with  them, For they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Isaiah 3:10 NKJV

Israelites starving and surrounded by the enemy.

Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, "Why are we sitting here until we die? If we say, 'We will enter the city,' the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall only die." And they rose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they had come to the outskirts of the Syrian camp, to their surprise no one was there. For the Lord had caused the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses—the noise of a great army; so they said to one another, "Look, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us!" Therefore they arose and fled at twilight, and left the camp intact—their tents, their horses, and their donkeys—and they fled for their lives. And when these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried from it silver and gold and clothing, and went and hid them; then they came back and entered another tent, and carried some from there also, and went and hid it.
II Kings 7:3‭-‬8 NKJV

• Nothing seemed different but God was orchestrating things behind the scenes causing people to hear what they need to hear.

• When you're in the middle of a miracle it's not peaceful but God has you right where he wants you and you need to live from a place of peace!

A Change of Plans

In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, "Thus says the Lord : 'Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.' " Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord , saying, "Remember now, O Lord , I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what  was good in Your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly. And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying, "Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, 'Thus says the Lord , the God of David your father: "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord .
II Kings 20:1‭-‬5 NKJV

• Hezekiah got the facts then he prayed because you always have access to God.

• We should respond differently than the world.

Original Plan

• God initiated an intimate fellowship with freedom. Genesis 1

When they heard the sound of God strolling in the garden in the evening breeze...
Genesis 3:8 MSG

• God's Word is His substance.

• Disconnected, discontented, ...

• If you know who you are, then you wont be waiting for someone to tell you. If you get in God's presence He will validate you because he created you

• We're made in God's image and even Jesus received words of affirmation from His father.

When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Matthew 3:16‭-‬17 NKJV

• You can respect a report from "Isaiah" (an expert) and simultaneously recognize the access you have to God yourself. If you have relationship with God then you always have access to Him. You don't need anyone to intercede for you; you can get your own Word from the Lord.

Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
Matthew 27:51 NKJV

• Sometimes you have to do what doesn't make sense so that you can get in position.

Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
Matthew 27:51 NKJV

• Jesus is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets.

• What you're fishing for,  Jesus already has prepared.

Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught."
John 21:9‭-‬10 NKJV

Take care of your body, it's the only place you have to live.

Flourish Under Fire

Jonathan Osteen at Lakewood Church

Are we waiting for perfect circumstances to arise so that we can flourish? There's no magic moment when everything will be just right.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1 Peter 1:6‭-‬7 KJV

Even challenges are part of God's perfect plan.

It's not genuine until it's tested.

That trial didn't come to break you it came to make you.

FLOURISH
grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment.

We are created to flourish in any situation.

Pearls are created under uncomfortable circumstances.

Irritations in our lives are used to develop something greater.

God works everything for our good.

Don't put your peace on hold until the situation turns around.

Nacre lines the inside of the shell. The formation of a natural pearl begins when a foreign substance slips into the oysterbetween the mantle and the shell, which irritates the mantle. It's kind of like the oystergetting a splinter. The oyster's natural reaction is to cover up that irritant to protect itself. The oyster would probably prefer not to have the  the irritation but then there would be no pearl.

In the biblical narrative, Joseph was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, and rose to become vizier, the second most powerful man in Egypt next to Pharaoh, where his presence and office caused Israel to leave Canaan and settle in Egypt.

Learn to flourish no matter the situation.

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
Proverbs 24:10 KJV

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Romans 8:37 KJV

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Philippians 4:4 KJV

Summer Nilson suffers from severe vertigo but she faces it everyday to minister. A lot of people are better off when you decide to flourish.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is  the  case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up."
Daniel 3:16‭-‬18 NKJV

Their faith was not dependent upon a favorable outcome.

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
II Corinthians 12:7‭-‬9 NKJV

What will the world be like if I don't flourish?

Until we rock again,
