Yes Is In Your Future

Lakewood Church
Joel Osteen

• On the way to the yes there will be NOs. People get discouraged and stop trying.

• If I knew I was 20 NOs away from my yes it would just be something that I'd cross off of my list.

2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.

90% of all first time businesses fail 90% of all second time businesses succeed, but 80% of all first time business owners never try again.
• What would that 80% of people have done if they had known they were only one NO away from success.

• Be Persistent
Zig Zigler: Tried 4 times to get a hotel room.
Jeanine Turner: Got a big break with Northern Exposure but went through 1000 NOs before she got it.
Thomas Edison: 2000 failed attempts.

• God wouldn't give you the dream without having a plan for you to see it come to pass.

• The people that are close to us often look at us in our own power, not I God's. We serve a supernatural God.

1 Kings 18:41-46

V. ...44 The seventh time the servant reported, "A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea."So Elijah said, "Go and tell Ahab, 'Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.'"

• I am not defined by my past, I am prepared by my past.

• I have a designer label.
• Don't let your thoughts push you around.
1. You are in charge of what you think and what you do. No one can push your buttons unless you let them.
2. If something always happens to cause you to stumble plan for the next time so it becomes a stepping stone.
• When you refresh someone they will go and refresh someone else. So bring your Tithe to the storehouse.
1. Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

Be A Now Person

Lakewood Church
Pastor Joel!

• A lot of us say, "as soon as 'X' happens then I'll do 'Y'", but intentions do not equal obedience.

• God will not ask you to do something without giving you the ability to do it.

Proverbs 1:31-32 Well, you've made your bed-now lie in it; you wanted your own way-now, how do you like it? Don't you see what happens, you simpletons, you idiots? Carelessness kills; complacency is murder.

• The Wiz-Kid of Wallstreet

Hebrews 3:15 As has just been said:"Today, if you hear his voice,do not harden your heartsas you did in the rebellion."

• God's plan doesn't get stopped because of my inactivity, I just miss what God has in it for me.

Esther 4:14 If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this."

• Now is the time to wake up.

Joel 3:9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:

• I'm closer to reaching my dream than I've ever been.

Romans 13:11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

• Think about what you're doing.

Haggai 1:1-7 n the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord's house should be built. Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying, Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

• Your faith will heal you.
Matthew 9:20-22

Let It (Unforgiveness) Go

Bishop T.D. Jakes @ Lakewood Church

If you don't give forgiveness well then you can't receive forgiveness well.

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore bretheren by the mercies of God that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. And be not comformed to the ways of this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove that good acceptable and perfect will of God!

• Unforgiveness is when you get stuck in a place of pain.

• We have no provision for offense because we have developed a methodology for dealing with it.

• If you do well vertically but don't do well horizontally then are you really living a crucified life?

• If you don't think you are a good person then you won't like "me" thinking you are a good person, so you will find someone who sees you the way that you see yourself (i.e. Abusive relationships)

• Unforgiveness is not natural, it's a learned behavior (methodology) and if you can learn it then you can unlearn it. I NEED TO BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF MY MIND.

• When you hold yourself back people aren't meeting the real you. And you hold yourself back because of unforgiveness (i.e. remember what happened last time...)

• Unforgiveness is not attacking the other person, it's attacking you. (high blood pressure, sleepless nights, etc...) It's like drinking poison hoping the enemy dies.

• I'm commanded to forgive, I'm not commanded to trust. If someone has betrayed trust they have the responsibility to get it back.

• God is giving me time to unlearn destructive behavior.

Let It (The Silent Frustration) Go

T.D. Jakes @ Lakewood Church
Luke 15:11-32

25 "Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27 'Your brother has come,' he replied, 'and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.' 28 "The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!' 31 "'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.'"

• Imagine looking at this family from the neighbor's perspective.
They were obviously doing well. Even though everything looks good you don't know know what's going on in the inside.

• We've lost a little of that facade and the "last frontier" is what's going on in our head.

• The prodigal son gets all the attention and no one says anything about the son who is doing good.

• v.26 You can tell there hadn't been a party in a while because the "good son" said, "what's going on."

• v.28 The older brother became angry but he was already frustrated. He probably had to work harder. The dad was probably always saying "i wonder when brother is coming home" and etc...All the while he's thinking I'm here being faithful and working hard, can you be happy that I'm here.

• Sometimes it's hard to determine the makeup from the man.

• v.28 when the brother went out, the father went after him...he same father who celebrated the one who came home. The Lord says, "Before you miss my party, I'm coming out to get you."

• God is to wise to allow my happiness be predicated on someone else's behavior.

• It's time to let go of the silent frustration.

Sowing a Seed in Your Time of Need

Lakewood Church
Pastor Joel!

• When we hit a bad spot, it's easy to start focusing on ourselves. The best way to heal is to give away what you need.

Psalm 37:3 Trust in the lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

• It's not enough to JUST trust in the lord, you have to go on to step 2 and do good.

Job 42:10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.

• Job had lost everything and his health was bad but insted of praying for himself, he prayed for his friends.

• You can't reap a harvest without sowing a seed.

James 2:15-17 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

• Siegfried and Roy: After the tiger attack he became paralyzed. When he is feeling depressed he goes to the animal sanctuary and encourages others. When he sees someone in a wheel chair, he struggles and stands up then tells them, "If I can stand up, then you can too."

Proverbs 11:25 A generous person will prosper;whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Ruth: The seed for her new beginning came through helping Naomi.

Isaiah 58:7-8 Is it not to share your food with the hungryand to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear;then your righteousness will go before you,and the glory of the lord will be your rear guard.

Dan: Dan lost his wife and decided to go to every funeral at the church to encourage others. He's now a staff member at that church in charge of all the funerals!

• Some people are waiting for their ship to come in but they haven't sent their ship out.

***Bonus Notes***
VICTORIA OSTEEN TALK
-Relationships evolve and require minor adjustments at every stage of the relationship.

-Be flexible and study the people around you.
Matthew 12:11-12 He said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."

-You are more than enough.
God is more than enough  and he us on the inside of us.
